  • The organ in the Johanniskirche in Aalen was built in 1802 by Joseph Nikolaus Allgeyer. It was donated to the church by Christian Friedrich Fürgang and had ten stops and an attached pedal. After the church had been out of use for several years, the organ was restored by Allgeyer in 1829 and expanded with an independent pedal with four stops.
  • For a long time it was not known who had built the instrument. The metal pipework was removed in 1917 as war metal. New prospect pipes were made by the Gebr. Link in the 1920s of zinc. In 1947 the company Gebr. Link out a restoration under the advice of Helmut Bornefeld. For a long time it was not known who had built the organ, when it was built and what its original stop list had been. In 1973 it was recommended to replace the organ with a new instrument, but fortunately that plan was not implemented. The Link company carried out a new restoration, again under the advice of Helmut Bornefeld, which was completed in 1975. Much pipework from 1947 has been renewed.
  • Due to the city's 650th anniversary, Burkhart Goethe started an investigation of the organ in 2010. Notes were found on the inside of the organ describing the original disposition and identifying the builder as Joseph Nikolaus Allgeyer. Together with newly found historical documents from the city archives, a plan could now be drawn up for the reconstruction of the instrument. The inventory showed that the organ had been technically almost completely preserved. But of the pipework only the registers Subbass, Octavbass, Großgedeckt, Kleingedeckt and Flöte 4' were preserved.
  • The organ was reconstructed by Kristian Wegscheider in 2013-2014. A thorough investigation into Allgeyer's work was carried out beforehand. Organs from builders from the same school (Schmahl and Prescher) were also used, in particular the Baumeister organ from 1734 in Maihingen.
