- Het orgel in de Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston is gebouwd in 1875 door de firma Hook & Hastings met mechanische sleepladen en barkermachines. Het had 70 stemmen en was het grootste pijporgel dat tot dan toe door een Amerikaanse firma was gebouwd. Op 23 februari 1876 nam men het orgel in gebruik. Het werd hierbij bespeeld door S.B. Whitney, B.J. Lang, L.G. Chaffin en George E. Whiting.
- In 1929 werd een nieuwe console geplaatst en kreeg het orgel electrische tracturen.
