- In 1868, Albert Fröhlich and Alexander Merklin built a new organ for the St. Georg church in Freiburg. It was converted by Friedrich Wilhelm Schwarz in 1926/1927 into a pneumatic instrument with cone chests. Several original stops were removed. In 1977/1978, Fischer & Krämer built a new organ in the old case, using the existing pipe work from 1868. Building consultants were Hans Musch and Bernd Sulzmann. On April 23, 1978, the organ was inaugurated with a recital by Hans Musch.
- In 2008 the organ was restored by the firm Mühleisen. The pipe work was revoiced, the instrument was cleaned and the action repared. A new sub octave coupler was installed and a modern Setzer-combination action, replacing the original two free combinations.
