  • On June 16, 1829, the old Dutch Reformed Church (Hervormde Kerk) of Holten burned down. Only a part of the tower was preserved. The organ of the church, supplied by Abraham Meere in 1815, was lost. Three years later, on February 26, 1832, the current church could be openend. A tower with bells was built in 1840. On August 19, 1855 a new organ could be inaugurated, built by C.F.A. Naber. H. Honhof examined the instrument on July 31, 1855.
  • The organ was modified in the early twentieth century, perhaps during a major renovation of the church in 1913. The Trumpet 8' was replaced by a new one with zinc bekers. There were also new front pipes installed, made of zinc. The Quint 3' of the Hoofdwerk was replaced by a Gamba 8', the Woudfluit 2' of the Bovenwerk was replaced by a Salicional 8'. The pipework of the Octaaf 4’ of the Hoofdwerk was renewed with pipes of spotted metal. This work may have been done by Leichel from Lochem, but there is no documentation that proves this. An electric wind engine was installed around 1920 and two of the three bellows were put out of operation. The De Koff company carried out a restoration in 1931. New prospect pipes were installed, and the instrument was expanded with three new registers, Octave 4', Trumpet 8' and Viole d'Amour 8'.
  • The interior of the church was modernized in 1956. The organ was stripped of the consoles and wing ornaments, and the case was painted in a blue color. The Sanders company restored the instrument in 1956-1958, under the advice of T. Telman from Enschede. Some changes of the past were undone, but the original stop list was not reconstructed. A extra slide with a Sesquialter was added to the Bovenwerk. In 1960 K.B. Blank & Zn. installed an independent pedal organ with three stops and a spare slide on the chest for a fourth stop (reed 16') to be placed later.
  • In 1987 a new restoration started, by the organ maker J. Patijn from Wapenveld. During this restoration, the Scherp van Sanders was replaced by a Trumpet in Naber style, and the pedal was expanded with a Bassoon 16' on the spare slide. The intonation of the organ has not been revised by Patijn. The organ case was also repainted: a white color with gold was chosen, and new carvings were made by R. Wolterink from Rijssen, following the example of the Naber organ in Gorssel.
  • The organ was restored by the Reil company in 2018-2019 under consultancy of Bert Wisgerhof. The wind supply and the action have been improved. The three bellows were all reconnected. Special care has been taken to improve the intonation, especially that of the Bassoon 16'. The wind pressure was reduced to 72 mm. Instead of the Sesquialter of 1959, a new Dulciaan 8' was placed on the side slide, modeled on the Dulciaan of the Naber organ in the Joriskerk in Amersfoort. The pipework of the Octaaf 4’ of the Hoofdwerk was completely renewed. A Tremulant was added, just like the organ originally had. The register inscriptions have been renewed following the example of the original inscriptions of Naber at the organ of Voorst. The nomenclature of the registers has been adapted to the uses of Naber. The organ case has been restored and repainted by the Wolters & Ovink company in Deventer. The organ was inaugurated on April 12, 2019, with a recital by Bert Wisgerhof and Jan van Dijk.
