Gebaut von: Aristide Cavaillé-Coll (1872) - Opus 97
Demolished (1911?)

  • In 1870, the Paris Conservatory ordered two organs from the Cavaillé-Coll company. An organ with seventeen registers for the concert hall, and an organ with twenty-six registers to replace Grenié's old teaching organ. Due to war conditions and the Commune in 1871, it was decided that year to keep the Grenié organ and only have an organ built for the concert hall. The organ was completed on October 5, 1872.
  • Since 1795, the conservatory had been located on the rue du Conservatoire, a street that was called rue Bergère before 1853. The Salle du Conservatoire is an older concert hall that still exists. In 1911, the conservatory moved to a new building on rue de Madrid. In 1990 the school moved to the Parc de la Villette. Cavaillé-Coll's organ no longer exists. It was probably demolished in 1911.
