Year | Builder | Opus | Activity | 1713 | Johann Anton Krásný | new organ | 1753 | Jacob Spiegel | enlargement | 1762 | Jacob Spiegel | enlargement | 1872 | Josef Prediger | restoration and enlargement | 2014 | Varhanářská Dílna Kánský-Brachtl | new organ in old case |
- In 1711-1713 Johann Anton Krásný built an organ with nineteen stops for the Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Mělník. In 1753 Jacob Spiegel added a positive, which initially had two registers. In 1762 two more registers were added. Josef Prediger expanded the organ to 21 registers in 1872. In 1898 the organ was demolished in anticipation of a new, larger organ that never has been constructed. In dire straits, a small new organ was therefore installed in 1903, which served until 2013.
- Fortunately, the upper part of the main case of the old organ, together with the prospect pipes, had been preserved in the local museum. From 2004 onwards, plans were made to use this scarce material as a basis to realize a new organ in the style of the Bohemian baroque organ. This instrument was eventually built in 2013-2014 by the company Kánský & Brachtl. It was inaugurated on November 23, 2014. The organ was restored carefully by Dalibor Vinklát. Tomáš Horák was consultant during the project.
