- In 1907, J.E. Dodd a new organ for Napier Cathedral. The church's previous organ, built by William Hill & Sons in 1874, was sold to the parish of Dannevikre. The organ was inaugurated on September 10 and 11, 1907, with concerts by Dr. J. Bradshaw, organist at Christchurch Cathedral.
- Following the earthquake on February 3, 1931 that hit the region, the cathedral was destroyed by fire. The organ has also been lost.
