- The Stadtkirche in Glarus was inaugurated in 1864. The first organ was built by Walcker in 1865-1866 as opus 223. The organ had 46 registers on three manuals and pedal, with Taschenladen and mechanical action.
- Over the years, the organ has been renovated three times by the Kuhn firm. In 1896 they installed a new console, the disposition was changed and a water engine was installed. In 1905 they repaired the organ from storm damage, and the disposition was adjusted again. The last revision was in 1928-1929. The action was pneumaticized, with a new console and many new playing aids and couplers. The Taschenladen were renewed, the stop list was modified and a new electric wind motor was installed.
- The Walcker organ was damaged in a fire in the church in 1940 and could not be repaired. In 1941 the company Th. Kuhn AG built a new organ. During construction, some registers were taken over from the previous organ.
