- After the construction of the First Congregational Church in Ann Arbor, an organ was installed by Hook & Hastings in 1876. It was a two manual organ with eighteen registers. Behind the facade of Hook & Hastings, the Austin firm built a new three-manual organ with 33 registers in 1919. Great and Choir are in the same swell box. In 1924 a Viole d'Orchester 8' was added to the Swell Organ.
- The specification has been altered in the course of time, because the listing from 1978 differs on a few points from the original disposition from 1919.
