2006 Casavant Frères2918A restoration and enlargement

  • After an enlargement of the chapel of Bethlehem United Church of Christ, Ann Arbor, Michigan, dedicated in 1896, a new organ was built in 1966 by the firm of Casavant Frères. It replaced a 1908 Möller organ, which had been expanded in 1933. The new organ had two manuals and pedal and 25 registers. Consultant was James R. Bain, organist of the church from 1963 to 1965. The organ was dedicated on October 8, 1967. James Bain played the instrument on this occasion.
  • In the years 2004-2006 the organ was restored by Casavant and expanded with a third manual. This is installed as Swell Organ with new pipe work. The old Swell Organ was placed as a Positiv Organ. The Great Blockflöte 2' moved to the Positiv, and the Octave 2' from the Positiv to Great. The Spitzflöte 4' of the Positiv has been replaced by a Koppelflöte 4' and moved to the new Swell. The Krummhorn has been renovated and fitted with new reeds.
