2011 Paul Fritts34 reconstruction

  • Philip Bachman built a new pipe organ for Friedens Lutheran Church in Myerstown, Pennsylvania, that was dedicated on April 11, 1819. The organ was in use here until 1901, when a new organ was installed. The Bachman organ stayed in the church, but was donated to a church in Tacoma, Washington in 1908. In this church, Saint John’s English Lutheran Church, the organ was inaugurated in November 1910. In 1932-1933, a new two-manual organ was built behind the prospect, but many original parts were re-used, or just remained on the site. From 1932 on the church was called Luther Memorial Church, because the congregation had merged with Our Saviour's Lutheran Church.
  • The church closed in 2004, and the organ became redundant. It was acquired by Paul Fritts, who examined the instrument and the remaining Bachman material. Herewith, a reconstruction of the original organ could be carried out in 2011.
