Built by: M.P. Möller Company (1986) - opus 11682
Dismantled (2021)

  • Under the direction of Stephan Calvert and Joe Schreiber, the company Möller built a new large organ for the Cathedral of Saint Paul in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1985-1986. The instrument was located on the gallery on the west side of the nave in a very large organ case. A smaller chancel organ was also realized, with its own console, but also connected to the console of the main organ.
  • The chancel organ was dismantled an sold around 2000. The main organ itself remained in use, but around 2015 it became clear that a major restoration was necessary. Because of many problems with the action, the used pneumatic system, the quality of a part of the pipes and the voicing, it was decided to have a new organ built. Another important reason for this church was that a new organ case could be designed leaving a major part of the beautiful west window visible from the church, that was hidden since 1985. The new organ has been built by the Noack Organ Company in 2020-2021. A number of ranks by Möller were re-used after renovation.
