2006 Principal Pipe Organs  maintenance/reparations

  • In 1869, the company Forster & Andrews built a new organ for the church of Saint Mary in Beverley. The organ case was manufactured by Gilbert Scott in gothic revival style, with fine wood carvings. In 1907, the organ was rebuilt by T.C. Lewis & Co. Only twelve ranks were taken over of the old instrument, and the case was removed.
  • The organ was rebuilt again in the years 1956-1964 by the company Hall & Broadfield from Hull. The instrument was expanded with a Solo Organ, the Choir Organ was relocated and a new detached console was installed. Consultant during these works was Eric Bell, who was organist of the church at the time. But unfortunately, he died in 1961, before the rebuilt was completed.
  • Maintenance works were carried out in 2006 by the Principal Pipe Organ Company.
