- The church of Saint James the Greater in Vancouver, Washington, was dedicated in 1885 as a cathedral for the diocese of Nesqually. In 1907, a new cathedral was dedicated in Seattle, and the church in Vancouver served only as parish church. In 2013, the church was dedicated as a proto-cathedral. The church burnt down on June 21, 1889, but was rebuilt following the original plans.
- In 1912, a new pipe organ was installed by the Wicks Organ Company, opus 74. It is located on the gallery on the rear of the nave. The original specification had two manuals and fifteen ranks. The instrument was rebuilt in 1954 by Balcom & Vaughan. In 2019-2020 a major rebuilt and enlargement was carried out by Puget Sound Pipe Organs.
