In the years 1765-1773, a church was built in Alexandria, Virginia, after a design by Col. James Wren. It was completed in February 1773. The first pipe organ was installed second hand in 1811. This organ is now still visible in the Smithsonian Museum, Washington DC. The current organ is the fifth instrument of the church, built in 1975 by the Austin Organ Company. It has three manuals and pedal, with 34 stops, including a number of transmissions and extensions.
