2019 Holtkamp Organ Company  restoration

  • In 1925 the company Aeolian built a pipe organ with eleven ranks for the residence of William Ratcliffe Irby in New Orleans. Irby was a tobacco magnate, who owned a large house, built in 1816. The organ was installed in a music room on the third floord. It could be played by hand or by music rolls. However, Irby died a year after the installation, in 1926. The organ remained in the building, that is currently known as the Seignouret-Brulatour Building, but was never used anymore.
  • The Historic New Orleans Collection THNOC bought the building, to use it for exhibitions. The organ was restored by the Holtkamp Organ Company. The added a modern features: a MIDI-connection, to make it possible to record and replay music by contemporary organists. The organ was inaugurated again with a concert by Olivier Latry on November 15, 2019.
