1949 Austin Organ Company Inc.  enlargement

In 1911 the Austin Company built a pipe organ for the First Presbyterian Church in Greenville, South Carolina. It was expanded in 1949 with three stops, and a new console was installed. When the church in Greenville bought a new organ, the Austin organ was donated to the Presbyterian community in São Paulo, where it was installed in the cathedral by local company's and architects. On March 6, 1988, the organ was dedicated, with Norah Buyers playing the instrument during the service. The first concert was played by Ary Aguiar jr., who also was the last organist to play the organ in Greenville. The official inauguration concert was in the evening, by Elisa Freixo.
