In 2013-2014, Gerhard Grenzing built a large organ for the University of São Paulo for the new Auditorium. But because the new building was not finished in time, the organ remained in storage. In 2018, it was decided to relocate it to the Evangelical Cathedral. Some modifications were necesarry to the design of the prospect to make it fit in the cathedral. On March 22, 2019, the organ was officially inaugurated with a concert by José Luis de Aquino, organ professor of the University, and on March 24 with a concert by the organist of the cathedral, Mácio Arruda. The organ is still owned by the University, but it will remain in the cathedral.
