  • The Igreja de São Lourenço, close to the cathedral of Porto, was built as a church for the Jesuit college at the end of the 16th century. The church and college buildings have been in use by several groups until in 1860 the Seminário Maior moved to this location. However, the church is only used for special occassions, while a much smaller chapel is in use for regular services. A large part of the buildings are in use for the Museu de Arte Sacra e Arqueologico MASA, and the church can only be accessed via the museum during week days.
  • There are two organs in the church: one with facades on both sides of the choir and one at the northwest corner of the nave. This last organ is the most important one. It has probably been built around 1780, when the church became the church of the Augustinian monks. The builder of the organ is unknown. In 1860 the organ was renewed by António José dos Santos, who constructed a new windchest and new bellows, and expanded the keyboard with three keys. From 1834 to 1860 the church was not in use, so this restoration was carried out when the Seminário started to use the bulding for their regular services.
  • A last restoration was carried out in 1997-1998.
