1965 Toledo Pipe Organ Company  transfer/relocate

  • On November 21st, 1965, a new organ was dedicated in the Fifth Avenue Baptist Church in St. Petersburg, Florida. The instrument was acquired from the Shaker Heights Plymouth Congregational Church in Cleveland, where it was built by Ernest M. Skinner in 1920. The Toledo Pipe Organ Company relocated the organ, but they also rebuilt parts of it. The dedication concert was given by the organist of the church, Helen McClellan Mangen. There were plans to enlarge the organ with an Antiphonal Organ, using parts of the Möller organ that previously stood in the church. It seems that this enlargement was never installed. The organ itself stood in two chambers to the left and the right of the altar, with a freestanding console in the church.
  • About 1995 the congregation left the church and the organ was dismantled and stored.
