2020 Joris Potvlieghe  new organ

Around 2005 plans were made in Leuven for the construction of an organ in the style of the instrument of Heinrich Andreas Contius. As an example, an organ from 1774 was used from Liepaja in Latvia. The organ would first be placed in the Sint Pieterskerk, but that turned out to be technically unfeasible. In 2016, the companies Flentrop and Potvlieghe built the main work of the new organ and placed it temporarily in the choir of the Predikherenkerk. In the meantime, the old organ in the Sint Michielskerk on Naamsestraat has been dismantled in 2017 (it was sold to a parish in Poland), after which the rood screen has been enlarged and reinforced. The construction of the organ at this location was carried out in 2018-2019, and the instrument was first played during an official presentation by the organist of the church, David Burn on September 20, 2019. But the majoriry of the pipes had to be tuned and voiced at this moment. The organ was completed in the Spring of 2020.
