  • The main organ of the Basilique Bonne-Espérance in Vellereilles-Lez-Brayeux is a remarkable instrument, built in 1768 by Pierre Van Peteghem for the abbey church of the Benedictine Abbey in Affligem. It was built as a three-manual organ, without a pedal. Grand Orgue and Positif were built with a ravallement: the keys for G, A, B flat and B below C major were present, The Echo keyboard started at f minor.
  • The monastery was closed in 1796. The organ was sold in 1807 to the parish of Tournai (Tournai), where it was placed in the cathedral by Charles Verbeke. It has been transferred without modifications.
  • In 1851 a new organ was built for Tournai Cathedral by the Ducroquet firm. The old instrument was stored and offered for sale. In 1865 it was sold to the Abbey Church of Bonne Espérance in Vellereilles-Lez-Brayeux. It was installed in this church in the organ case of Adrien Rochet from 1784 that was present here. The interior of this organ was removed during the French Revolution. Désiré Cordier, organ builder in Mons (Bergen) transferred the organ. The case was actually too small for the organ. The ravallement was therefore no longer installed, and Cordier installed three new keyboards with a compass of 54 keys. The wind chests remained untouched. An attached pedal was added to the organ in 1865.
  • In 1900 the Schyven company built a new organ in the choir of the church. Van Peteghem's organ was no longer used after this. After the Second World War, the pipework was largely removed from the organ and stored in the tower of the church. Part of it has been lost. In 1997 there were plans for a reconstruction of the original instrument in the organ cases of Rochet.
  • The disposition mentioned is the original one, as it existed at least until 1851.
