- In 1731/1732 bouwde Johann Christoph Schmieder een nieuw orgel voor de dorpskerk in Stöntzsch bij Leipzig. Een bijzonderheid is dat Johann Sebastian Bach het orgel bespeelde op 2 november 1731, toen het nog niet voltooid was. In 1860 is het orgel gerestaureerd door Wilhelm Berger. Daarbij is de dispositie gewijzigd en werd een pedaalkoppel geplaatst.
- De originele frontpijpen werden in 1917 gevorderd. Hermann Eule restaureerde het instrument in 1935. Daarbij is de toonhoogte gewijzigd en werd de dispositie opnieuw gewijzigd.
- Het dorp Stöntzsch is in de jaren 1962-1965 geheel afgebroken in verband met de bruinkoolwinning. Het orgel werd gedemonteerd en opgeslagen. In 1967 is het door Eule overgeplaatst naar Hohnstein. Hierbij werd het orgel uitgebreid met een Spitzprincipal 8', een nieuwe Trompete en de Mixtur werd gewijzigd. Het pedaal is uitgebreid met een Rauschpfeife en een Singend Cornett.
