- In 1792, Samuel Green built an organ for Salisbury Cathedral. The organ was donated to the cathedral by King George III. It was a classic English organ with three manuals, 25 stops and without a pedal. In 1877 it was transferred by the company Hill & Sons to the Church of Saint Thomas Becket, because of the construction of an entirely new organ in the cathedral in 1876. The organ was enlarged with an attached pedal board.
- In 1897 the organ was expanded by Peter Conacher. The current condition dates back to 1930, when the Conacher company carried out a restoration, in which the instrument was also modified and expanded. In 1969 the organ was restored by the firm Hill, Norman & Beard.
