2007 Guido Schumacher  new organ in old case

  • The organ in the Sankt Cäciliakirche in Benrath was built in 1908 by Edmund Fabritius. The organ has a facade with neo-Gothic features, but in a more modern design. It was a two-manual organ with 22 stops, membrane wind chests and pneumatic action. Remarkable for the construction time was that no swell box was placed.
  • In 1976, the Seifert company carried out a conversion, with a new Rückpositiv added. The specification was also modified, in particular by placing new mixtures and aliquots. Josef Zimmermann was consultant for the work. The action was installed electrically with new slider chests.
  • The Schumacher company rebuilt the organ in 2007. About 40 percent of the pipework was taken over, the rest was newly manufactured. Consultant during the work was Eckhard Isenberg. The original instrument has not been reconstructed, but the sound has been revoiced in the image of Fabritius.
