Merklin-Schütze supplied a new organ for the Saint-Esprit in Bayonne in 1867/1868. The instrument was inaugurated on 2 September 1868, followed by an inauguration concert by Renaud de Vilbrac and the Baron d'Etcheverry. In 1977-1978 the organ was largely rebuilt by Robert Chauvin, using a large part of Merklin's pipework. Chauvin carried out a restoration in 2007.
