In 1929, the Welte company installed a cinema organ in the Luxor Palast in Chemnitz. As usual with cinema organs, it consists of a few ranks from which an extensive disposition is derived, supplemented with all kinds of special effects. In 1953 the stop list was changed by the Jehmlich company. The organ fell out of use around 1970, after which it was dismantled in 1979 and transferred to the Kino Museum (Filmmuseum) in Potsdam. It was barely playable here. The Jehmlich company carried out a thorough restoration in 1992/1993. The organ has been returned to its original state.
