  • The organ in the Michaeliskirche in Erfurt was originally built by Ludwig Compenius in the years 1648-1652. It was renovated at the end of the eighteenth century by the Gebrüder Wagner. In 1896 Friedrich Petersilie replaced the interior with a new pneumatic instrument. Some of the old pipework was reused. This organ was a gift from a church member.
  • In 1928 the organ was moved within the church to a new organ gallery. The current instrument was built in the old cases by the company Rühle in the years 1999/2000. An attempt was made to reconstruct the original work of Compenius. The organ cases have been restored by Alfred Hornemann.
