Description nr.: 2018732.

Built by: Flentrop Orgelbouw (2013)

  • In 2005 plans were started for a reconstruction of the Stellwagen organ of the Katharinenkirche in Hamburg. This organ was lost in the Second World War. Work on the new organ started on 21 March 2007 with the demolition of the old Kemper instrument from 1962. This has been sold to a church in Poland. The new organ, also known as the 'Bach' organ, is being built by the Flentrop company and will probably be completed in 2013. Kemper's organ still contained seventeen stops from the Stellwagen organ, which form the core of the new instrument. On April 12, 2009, the Rückpositiv was the first to be used during a special church service. A day later, Easter Monday, Andreas Fischer gave an inauguration concert.
  • The organ as a whole was completed in 2013. On June 9, 2013, the instrument was put into use during a festive church service, in which Andreas Fischer played it.
