2004 Lesley Smith  restoration

  • Gabriel Kney built a new organ for the Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1980-1981. Consultant was John L. Schaefer. The organ has four manuals and pedal with 48 stops. It was placed on the west side of the church. It replaced a 1929 Austin organ. On April 26, 1981, the instrument was dedicated. John Obetz played it on this occasion. This was followed by a series of concerts with James Moeser, John L. Schaefer, Gillian Weir and Guy Bovet.
  • The organ was restored in 2004 by Quimby Pipe Organs in collaboration with Lesley Smith. On Great, the Gedackt 16' was replaced by a Quintade 16'. At Swell they replaced the Regal 8' with an Oboe 8'.
