The large organ of Beverley Minster was built in the years 1884/1885 by the firm Hill & Sons. A lot of material was taken over from the existing organ, a work by John Snetzler from the years 1769-1779, which was renovated and expanded several times. The new building was given a Gothic revival style organ case, designed by Gilbert Scott and manufactured by the Beverley-based Ellweel firm. The Hill organ was enlarged in 1916 and completely rebuilt in 1962/1963 by Hill, Norman & Beard. In 1995 the company Wood (Huddersfield) carried out a restoration.
