The organ of Armagh's Anglican Cathedral was originally built in 1840 by Joseph William Walker. The organ was given a beautiful case, designed by L.N. Cottingham. The organ was originally located in the south transept. The instrument had 21 stops, divided over three manuals and pedal. In 1854 Walker moved it to the north transept. In 1870 Walker expanded and partially rebuilt the instrument. The console now has a place in the choir of the church. A subsequent conversion and modernization was carried out in 1928 by the firm of Evans & Barr. After that it was again the firm of Walker who worked on the organ. The action was electrified in 1954. A final conversion was carried out by the Wells-Kennedy Partnership in the years 1993-1996.
