• The Sankt Petri-Kirche in Chemnitz was built in 1886-1888. Ladegast was commissioned to build an organ with 56 stops. A few changes were made to the concept during construction. The organ eventually received 58 stops. The new instrument was dedicated on January 30, 1888. The church building was officially opened on October 18, 1888.
  
• In 1906 the company Schlag & Söhne installed a wind engine. In 1913 a thorough conversion followed by the company Jehmlich. The action was pneumatized and a new console was installed. The prospect pipes had to be handed in as war metal in 1918. They were eventually replaced in 1927 by new ones made of zinc. The firm Jehmlich then worked on the organ in 1935 and in 1955.
  
• After the organ had not sounded for more than fifteen years, it was restored in the years 2006-2008 by the Vleugels company. It was put back into service on October 19, 2008. Cooperation was provided by the church's two organists, Sabine Petri and Siegfried Petri, and the previous organist, Günther Schmidt, the Cantorij and the Collegium Instrumentale Chemnitz.
