Johann Gottlieb Scholtze bouwde in 1768-1769 een nieuw orgel voor de Maria Magdalenenkirche in Templin. Het front is ontworpen door Daniel Friedrich Kühn. Rond 1840 is aan het orgel gewerkt door Gottlieb Heise. Het had toen 27 registers, verdeeld over twee klavieren en pedaal. In 1855 bouwde Carl August Buchholz een nieuw tweeklaviers orgel met 37 registers in de oude kas.
Het binnenwerk is in 1921 vervangen door een nieuw orgel van de firma Jehmlich met 62 stemmen, verdeeld over drie manualen en pedaal. Dit is in 1936 door Jehmlich verbouwd. Dit binnenwerk is in 1993 afgebroken, omdat het aan een grondige revisie toe was. Men besloot echter een nieuw orgel in de kassen te laten bouwen door Alexander Schuke. Dit orgel is in 1994 in gebruik genomen. Adviseurs bij de bouw waren Rudolf Nehm en Klaus-Jürgen Gundlach.
In 2015 is men gestart met een fondswerfactie met als doel het plaatsen van een Glockenspiel bij het orgel.
