On December 13, 1981, a new organ was consecrated in the church of Mersch. This instrument was built by the Westenfelder company. The old main organ from 1956 had been in an unplayable condition since a fire in the church at Christmas 1978. It was decided not to overhaul it anymore, but to replace it with a new organ in the choir. Finally, the main organ was also overhauled in 1996.
