Description nr.: 2010979.

Built by: Johann Friedrich Schulze (1849)
Demolished (1893)

In 1849 Johann Friedrich Schulze built a new large organ for the Sankt Petri-Dom in Bremen. The old organ, built by Arp Schnitger and modified in 1828 by Biesterfeld, was completely demolished. The organ was given a contemporary stop list with features typical for instruments by Schulze, such as 32-foot stops on the Hauptwerk and Rückpositiv, a non-speaking prospect and various experimental stops. Due to restoration and construction work on the Domkirche, the organ fell into disrepair in 1889. Sauer advised not to refurbish it, but to replace it with a new organ. Schulze's instrument was subsequently dismantled. Parts of the prospect have been reused by Sauer.
