In 1985 it was decided to have a new organ built for the Schloßkirche in Bayreuth, to replace an instrument by Steinmeyer from 1958. This was demolished in 1990 and sold to a church in Padua, Italy, where it was rebuilt by Livio Volpato. The new organ was built by the Berlin firm Karl Schuke. Consultants were Christoph Krückl and Wolfgang Theer. The organ was dedicated on 3 February 1991.
