- The Pauluskirche in Heidenheim is a neo-gothic church, built in the years 1895-1898. The building was designed by the architect Felix von Berner from Stuttgart. A new organ was also installed, built by Gebr. Link. It was opus 300 from this firm, with 33 stops, a romantic stop list, pneumatic action and cone chests. The beautiful neo-gothic organ case was made in the Theodor Schnell workshop in Ravensburg. The organ was officially dedicated on February 2, 1899.
- In 1937, Helmut Bornefeld became church musician of the Evangelische Kirche in Heidenheim. Under his leadership the organ was radically rebuilt and modified in the years 1937 to 1954. The result was a three-manual organ with electric action and forty stops. The stop list typical of Bornefeld was no longer reminiscent of Link's work. From 1981, more and more plans were made for renewing the organ. Reconstruction of Link's work or new construction with old material was not an option. The organ was dismantled in 1989 in connection with a restoration of the church interior.
- On the advice of Gerhard Klumpp, the Rieger company was commissioned in 1992 to build a new organ with forty stops in the historic organ case of Link. The organists Dörte Maria Packeiser and Thomas Haller were also involved in the design of the organ. The organ case has been restored by Christian Wegerhoff. With Pentecost, June 4th, 1995 the new organ could be put into use.
