The Spitalkirche in Bayreuth was completed in 1746. In the years 1749-1750 Christian Gottlob Hubert built an organ with five stops for the church. It was placed in a beautiful rococo organ case, designed by Johann Gabriel Räntz. In 1846 Ludwig Weineck built a new organ for the Spitalkirche. The old instrument was then transferred to the Gottesackerkirche. The current organ was built in 1956 by the Rieger company in the Weineck case. It was dedicated on July 2, 1956.
