- In de Batholomäuskirche te Giebichenstein bij Halle/Saale is in 1742/1743 een orgel gebouwd door Heinrich Andreas Contius uit Halle. Het werd geschonken aan de kerk door Johann Christoph Ochse. Het orgel met 22 registers werd voor het eerst gebruikt op 2 februari 1743, Maria Lichtmis. De oudst bekende dispositieopgave van dit orgel dateert uit 1842, en werd opgesteld door Friedrich Schulze. Op advies van Otto Reubke liet men in 1904 een nieuw binnenwerk bouwen door Wilhelm Rühlmann. In 1936 voerde Rühlmann enkele registerwijzigingen uit. De firma Adam reviseerde het instrument in 1959. Zij vervingen de Oboe 8' door een Quinte 1 1/3'. Een bijzonderheid van het orgel is dat enkele engelfiguren op de orgelkas bewegingen kunen maken, zoals het slaan van de maat.
- In 1992 is het orgel gerestaureerd.
