- In 1776, Aegidius van Peteghem built an organ for the chapel of the Sint Elisabeth guesthouse in Turnhout. The original location of the guesthouse was the Gasthuisstraat. The organ was moved twice during the relocation of the chapel.
- At the end of the nineteenth century, various stops were replaced: a Bourdon 16', Prestant 8', Salicionaal 8' and Voix Céleste 8' replaced the original Nasart, Doublet, Tierce and Fourniture. The Prestant 8' (discant) was disabled and the Vox Humana 8' removed.
- After the demolition of the old hospital and the construction of a new building in 1967, the organ was transferred to the new chapel. In 1968 the company Pels-D'Hondt restored the organ, under consultancy of Stanislas Deriemaeker. The original stop list was restored except for the Vox Humana. On June 30, 1968 the organ was put back into use with a recital by Herman de Houwer.
- At the end of 2023 it was announced that the organ will be completely returned to its original state. It must disappear from the chapel, and a new location is being sought, where the organ can also be played by students of the music academy. The plan is for it to be inaugurated in 2026.
