  • The old abbey church of Neumünster in Luxembourg was destroyed by the French armies in 1683. After the rebuilding of the church, a new organ was placed, which is attributed to Jean Nollet on the basis of the organ case. It must have been built between 1705 and 1716, when Romain Edinger was abbot. The monastery was closed after the French Revolution. The organ was then disassembled and stored in the Saint Nicholas Church in Luxembourg. In 1805 it was placed back in the abbey church. This church has since been used as a parish church and is dedicated to John the Evangelist.
  • In 1863 Franz Sonreck worked on the organ, according to plans by Heinrich Oberhoffer. Fourteen old stops were reused. Fifteen new ones were placed. In 1898, the Strasbourg firm of Wetzel restored the organ. They replaced the Cromorne with an Oboe and the Mixture of the Positif with a Vox Coelestis. The Grand-Orgue was expanded with a Clairon 4'. In 1945 Georges Haupt restored the organ. The action was partly made pneumatic, and the disposition was modified and expanded.
  • In 1979 it was decided to have the organ restored by Georg Westenfelder. He constructed a new third manual as Récit, built in the style of Nollet. The other manuals and the pedal were also partly reconstructed. The character of the organ has been classically French since its restoration.
