  • The organ of the Hill Auditorium of the University of Michigan was built in 1927 by Ernest M. Skinner as opus 664. In the construction he used pipe work from the previous organ. This was an instrument from Farrand & Votey, opus 700 from 1893, built for the Columbian Exposition in Chicago. In 1894 it was transfered to the University Hall. The instrument was named Frieze Memorial Organ.
  • The Hill Auditorium was built in 1913 to a design by Albert Kahn. The building was named after Arthur Hill, thanks to whose efforts it could be built. The company Hutchings installed the Farrand & Votey organ in the new hall after a rebuilt and enlargement in 1913. This organ was demolished and replaced by the Skinner organ of 1927. Construction consultant was Professor Palmer Christian. Much of the material from the old organ was taken over during construction. In 1955 the instrument was modified and rebuilt by Aeolian-Skinner under the leadership of G. Donald Harrison. The mechanism of the organ was restored in 1985. The console was modernized in 1995.
