- The old organ of the cathedral in Luxembourg was built in 1938 by the company Georges Haupt, in connection with an enlargement of the church building in the years 1935-1939. During construction, many stops were taken from the church's existing organ, which had been built in 1880 by Dalstein & Haerpfer and was expanded by Haupt in 1930. The new organ consisted of two parts, each with its own console. The actual main organ was placed in the transept near the choir, with a smaller part in the gallery on the west side of the church. The large organ had 84 stops, the small 24. Both organs could be played from the main console.
- In 1994 the organ was renovated and equipped with a modern setzer installation. The part on the west side of the church has been removed and was replaced by a new separate organ by Westenfelder. In 2020-2022 the Haupt organ was restored by the company Rieger Orgelbau.
