Built by: Sandtner Orgelbau (1979) - opus 72

  • A large organ from the company Späth had been present in Rottenburg Cathedral since 1908. The instrument caused many problems, and had to be overhauled regularly. A conversion and expansion followed in 1956, but this was also unsuccessful. On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Diözes Rottenburg in 1978, the interior of the cathedral was completely renovated. It was also decided to have a completely new main organ built. The order went to the company Sandtner in Dillingen. The organ is placed in three cases: a positive and two large cases, so that the beautiful window on the west side of the church remained visible. The instrument was dedicated in 1979. Consultant was Wolfram Rehfeldt.
  • The color of the organ was originally white. Later (before 1997) the organ case has been repainted in a brown red color. But the color of the organ is white again nowadays (2022).
