- In the years 1856-1858 Nikolaus Schrickel built a new organ with 37 stops for the Stadtkirche in Ilmenau. The organ case with the beautiful front was made by Friedrich Fleischhack. The organ was dedicated on February 7, 1858. Behind the organ front from 1858, the Walcker company built a new organ in 1911. It was dedicated on June 25, 1911. In March 1917 the front pipes were requisitioned. These were replaced by new zinc pipes by Walcker around 1930.
- In 1961 the instrument was modified and a new console was also installed. It was restored in 1993 by Christian Scheffler and brought back to its original state.
