The organ contains older material: Organ case from 1779 by Johann Michael Herberger
In 1774, the old organ of the Augustiner Chorherrenstift in Reicherberg was destroyed when the church tower collapsed. Johann Michael Herberger built a new organ in 1779. The organ case was constructed by Josef Stöger. The interior of the case has unfortunately not been preserved. Johann Lachmayr built a new instrument in the old cases in 1882. The new specifcation was designed in collaboration with the composer Johann Haber. In 1957 this organ was restored by Reinisch & Pirchner. Most of the Oberwerk was rebuilt with new stops. In 1981 a completely new organ was placed in the old cases by the company Metzler.
