  • John Snetzler built a single manual organ for the Qualified Episcopal Chapel, Carrubers Close in Edinburgh in 1747. The instrument was transferred to the Episcopal Chapel of Saint Andrew by the Green in Glasgow in 1775. In 1788 John Donaldson expanded the organ with a second manual (Swell), which ran from tenor c (c°).
  • Around 1813 the organ was built by J.A. Mirrlees transferred to Unitarian Chapel (Union Street). The Unitarian Church moved to a new building on Saint Vincent Street in 1855-1856. The organ was transferred, renovated and expanded by Bevington & Sons.
  • In 1959 the organ was in an unplayable condition. It was renovated by James MacKenzie, making it playable again. In 1974 a complete restoration was carried out by MacKenzie. The organ was subsequently transferred to the University of Glasgow Concert Hall in 1985. It was donated to the university by the Unitarian Church as they were moving into a smaller meetinghouse. James MacKenzie transferred the organ.
