  • The first organ at First Baptist Church in Ann Arbor was built in 1883 by Detroit organ builder G. Wood & Son. It was commissioned on April 6, 1883. In 1928 this organ was transferred to the West Bay City Baptist Church, and a new organ was installed in the First Baptist Church by the firm of Lewis & Hitchcock. In the years 1964-1965 Robert Noehren built the current organ, a large contemporary instrument with 51 stops. The organ was completed at Christmas 1965, and was officially inaugurated on January 23, 1966. The organ was dedicated to the memory of Chester H. Loucks, former pastor of the congregation. The organ case was designed by Herbert W. Johe.
  • The organ was renovated in 1984 by Jerroll Adams. In 1989 he installed a new MultiLevel Capture System. The couplers were renewed in 1995.
