Gebaut von: M. Welte & Söhne (1925)
In 1925, the Welte company built a salon organ for a villa in southern France for Lady Burton. The instrument could be played with the keyboard, but also fully automatically with the help of paper music rolls. Around 1970 the villa was radically renovated and the organ was dismantled and stored. The instrument was purchased in 1985 by the Museum für Mechanische Musikinstrumente in Linz am Rhein and was restored by Horst and Jochem King from Glattbach. A new organ case was ordered from Laukhuff. In 1986 a CD was recorded with works by Bach as played by Straube and Dupré, among others, from original music roles. In 1993 the organ was sold to the Technik Museum in Speyer, where it was set up in the Liller Halle.
